Radio coverage of Berlin Raceway returns to
107-WMUS in 2009
Jenison, MI- Michael Blackmer was handed the keys to Berlin Raceway back at the awards banquet for the 2008 season. Blackmer vowed that 'change' would be a common theme to look for in the coming years surrounding the Marne raceway. The new owner of Berlin is pleased to make yet another exciting announcement as the 2009 season draws closer.
‘The Moose’ has hosted the Tuesday night show for several seasons in the past, and 106.9 FM will again be home to Berlin Raceway coverage!
"We are truly excited to get our radio program back on WMUS for 2009! WMUS is known for being the home of auto racing coverage in West Michigan and we wanted to get our weekly preview and recap show on The Moose once again," stated Blackmer.
The newly renamed show ‘Berlin Raceway Rewind’, will see a brand new format and will be hosted by a variety of familiar voices. Longtime Berlin announcer and MRN Radio voice Jeff Striegle will be onboard, as well as Matt McKenzie, Mike Strevel, Norm Jelsma, and Kevin Striegle; all of whom will rotate as co-hosts each week.
Former racer and Berlin radio announcer George Keen will join the cast of voices for the first show of the season to bring back a flavor to the radio waves from the past.
Listeners will be able to dial in ‘Berlin Raceway Rewind’, a one-hour program beginning at 6 p.m. every Tuesday night. The first show will kick off with the NASCAR season just following the Daytona 500 on February 17th and will run through the end of Berlin's regular season. Listeners can also stream the show online, through the WMUS Web site (www.107mus.com). A host location has not yet been determined.
Unfortunately, due to the economic times, radio play-by-play coverage of Saturday night racing will not return in 2009. "As much as we are disappointed to lose our Saturday broadcasts, we are still very proud to be one of very few short tracks to feature an FM radio show every week."
The 2009 racing season kicks off at the Berlin Raceway on April 18th, with tickets $12 for Adults and $5 every week for Kids 12 and under. Season tickets are available now, as well discount tickets for groups of 10 or more, season pit passes, and more.
