40 Cars Pre-entered for the ARCA/CRA Super Series Event at Berlin Raceway this Saturday
Salem, IN (May 9, 2012) – Champion Racing Association officials have announced that there are already 40 cars pre-entered for this weekend’s ARCA/CRA Super Series event at Berlin Raceway located in Marne, Michigan. The list of entries is one of the largest ever for a regular season event for the series as teams use this event to help prepare for the 4th Annual Rowdy 251 special event that will take place at Berlin Raceway on Tuesday, June 19th featuring NASCAR great Kyle Busch.
Saturday’s race will be the 14th ARCA/CRA Super Series event that the tricky 7/16 mile facility has hosted. Berlin has always been known for its talented local drivers and very knowledgeable and passionate race fans. As usual Saturday’s event will pit the best from the ARCA/CRA Super Series against the best local drivers from Berlin’s Coors Light Super Late Model Division.
Topping the list of entries for Saturday’s event is local sensation Brian Campbell, who has become pretty much a regular with the ARCA/CRA Super Series the last three years. Campbell, from nearby Wyoming, Michigan, is currently tied with his father Fred with the most ARCA/CRA Super Series victories at Berlin with three. Campbell also captured last year’s inaugural Season Championship in the track’s template bodied Coors Light Super Late Model Division.
Campbell was victorious at the series last event on April 22nd at Toledo Speedway after a tough battle with fellow former Berlin regular and two time ARCA/CRA Super Series Champion Johnny VanDoorn, who is also entered for Saturday’s event and is still looking for his first CRA victory at Berlin. VanDoorn currently leads the series points while Campbell is in third place only four points behind after two events in 2012.
Other top CRA regulars who are entered include Terry Fisher Jr., Jay Niewiek, Kenny Tweedy, Jason Dietsch, Kenzie Ruston, Lakeland, Florida’s Steve Dorer, Rick Turner, Nick Gullatta, Peter Cozzolino, Kyle Jones, and 2011 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Champion Erik Jones, crew chiefed by three time series Champion Scott Hantz. All the top Boyne Machine Rookie of the Year candidates are entered including Nate Caruth, Becca Kasten, Johnny Jenkins, Brett Robinson, Travis Braden and Mark Lambert.
Several top local drivers are entered including former Berlin CRA event winners Ross Meeuwsen, Tom Thomas and Terry Van Haitsma. Also Tim DeVos, Alec Carll, Brandon Hermiller, Keith Herp, Caleb Bisacky, Chris Anthony, Jordan Dahlke, Seth Moody, Lauren Bush, Dave Lake, Justin Regnerus, Dan Vander Molen, Lee VanDyk and Tim Greene.
Los Angles, California native Joey Licata will make his first ever series start with the Andy Ponstein Racing team out of Jenison, Michigan. Gary Terry will make the trip back to Michigan from Florida to compete in the GT Products car. Former ARCA Racing Series competitor Billy Leslie, son of famed ARCA competitor Tracy Leslie, will be looking to make his second start of the season with the series. Michigan native Ryan Inman will be attempting to also make his first start of the season with the series Saturday.
There is an open practice scheduled for Friday with pits opening at 3pm, practice will go from 4 to 8pm. Pit gates open on Saturday at 11am. Practice will begin at 1pm with qualifying beginning at 4:15pm. The race program will begin at 7pm and will include 15 lap last chance races and the Berlin 125 for the ARCA/CRA Super Series along with racing action from the Berlin Sportsman and Modified divisions and the VROA cars.
