2010 Berlin Raceway Late Model Rules
* Changes from last year's rules are noted in red.
* Note, we took away some of the body measurements to be closer to the Main Event rules.

1. CHASSIS / CONSTRUCTION
A. Weight:
1. 60.00% maximum left side weight before and after the race, with driver in seated position.
2. 2700 lbs minimum before race (car and driver).
3. No weight allowances.
B. 102" minimum wheel base.
C. 82" maximum track width, measured outside sidewall to outside sidewall on bottom.
D. Frame rails must have a perimeter of minimum 10" (2" by 3" rectangular tubing) in center section.
E. No independent rear suspension.
2. ROLL CAGE
A. Cage and door protection required with minimum .083" wall (.090 recommended), 1 1/2" O.D. or larger tubing (1 3/4" recommended), gussets and high penetration welds throughout. No reduction.
B. Minimum of one triangular brace in front of lower left front roll bar post must be installed to protect driver's feet and legs.
C. 24" x 24" minimum 14 gauge steel plate (1/8") must be welded to left door bars for driver protection.
D. Minimum size of top roll bar hoop formed is 30" right to left and 30" front to back. 35" from top of 3" frame rail to bottom of halo bar is 35" with 1/4" tolerance.
3. BODY
A. A measurement between 79" and 80" width over the front tires, steadily decreasing in width in a straight line to between 77" and 78" at the center of the doors, then to 76" at the center of rear axle, to a maximum of 72" at the rear spoiler. Spoiler must be mounted centered on wheel base of car. A measurement between 78" and 82" is allowed at the bottom of the door between front and rear tires. Tapers must be equal on both sides; cars will be measured diagonally to check for square.
1. No hourglass sides or pyramid sides.
2. Wheel flares cannot extend past sidewall of tire and cannot extend past rear of tire, and be no higher than actual quarter panel or fender.
3. No exposed tires.
B. Spoiler:
1. 72" maximum width.
2. 46" maximum setback, both left and right side (center of rear axle to base).
3. 6" maximum height from base to top.
4. 40" high from the ground
5. Must be flat and made of clear see-through type material (no tint), not curved or multi-paneled to catch air unless a Template body. No stickers are allowed on spoiler.
6. Spoiler thickness must be minimum 1/8".
7. Cannot be closer than 3" to outside of right rear tire
C. Spoiler bracing:
1. Spoiler bracing must run forward and attach to removable deck.
2. Bracing must be round and a maximum of 3/8" diameter. Only three are allowed.
3. Cable or wire allowed.
4. No flat bracing, gussets, or rear supports.
5. Any bends or angles on the top of the rear spoiler for strength must not exceed 90 degrees bend, must be rear facing, maximum 1".
6. Any adjustments for the spoiler must be attached to the deck (1" vertical x 3" horizontal).
D. 46" maximum center of axle to rear of car.
E. Hood: No scoops, no louvers, one air intake opening allowed but must be at bottom edge of front windshield and no wider than 5" front to back. Flat hood.
F. Roof:
1. Manufactured type, no homemade or flat surface roofs allowed.
2. 45" minimum roof height, measured at 10" and 28" from front of roof.
3. 38" minimum length from top of front windshield to top center of rear window (lexan to lexan).
4. 45" minimum width side to side.
5. Shelf: 4" maximum, measured from front windshield opening to front of C-pillar, plus 1" minimum side body radius. Rear post must be flat, no contours, dish, or recess.
6. Right side C-pillar must be minimum 28 degrees between 4" shelf and roof.
G. 102" maximum distance from base of spoiler to top center of windshield.
H. 28" maximum deck length measured from bend in base of rear window to base of spoiler. (Deck must be flat, no contours, dish, or recess).
I. 60" x 24" minimum removable or hinged deck.
J. Rear quarter panel:
1. Height must be no more than 34 1/2" maximum.
2. Ends of rear quarter panel support must be flattened and bolted to frames.
3.
Drop or "belly" may have a maximum of 1" drop, checked with straight edge from side to side of rear quarter panels.
K. Nose piece: After-market nosepiece, to be mounted in conventional manner and have no more than 1 inch of belly built into face of nosepiece. Front over-hang may extend maximum of 45 inches from center of hub to tip of nose, including lip/splitter. Maximum width of lip is 4 inches. Nosepiece flare must not extend higher than top of fender.
1. To be of manufactured type (Five Star, Eagle, etc.). No Corvette noses.
2. No angling or tilting.
3. No square corners.
4. 45" maximum length from center of front hub to tip of nose.
5. Nose piece may be no more than 6" high from ground (if any higher, the spoiler must be lower; e.g. if your nose height is 7-1/2", your spoiler would be at 38-1/2")
6. No aluminum bumpers or door bars (must be 1-1/4" steel bars)
L. 3" minimum side skirt height to ground (NO FLARES, no floating skirts, no steps, or shelves).
M. 12" maximum height from rear bumper to ground. Rear body must be enclosed and securely fastened top and bottom between quarter panels, and from top of rear deck, 14" panel (panel must be flat and perpendicular to ground; may be inset 1" with a 1" rear-facing lip on bottom).
N. 22" x 12" minimum window openings. Must be rectangular shape, no radius. Driver must be able to exit car with helmet on. Window must be open from 4" shelf to roof.
O. Rear window must be any continuous radius of circle or oval shape resembling stock design, but may not come to a point. No V shapes or concave windows permitted. No tint. The window must remain flat in the center. No teardrop style rear windows. Must have brace in center of window. Window must be sealed to deck lid all the way around.
P. Windshield:
1. Windshield must be continuous equal radius.
2. Braces are mandatory.
3. No cutting or forming of windshield to enhance air intake to carburetor.
Q. No ground effect devices.
R. No fins, wings, butterflies, verticals or other unusual devices on outside or underneath car.
S. Rub rails are legal but must have closed ends with no sharp ends. Rub rails must be mounted with round head bolts or recessed and must run parallel to ground, not to protrude more than 1".
T. Nose and front fender must be flush with outside front tire.
U. All carbon fiber body panels, air boxes, etc is illegal. Exception: Roof
V. All body rules are subject to Officials’ discretion
W. Body to be mounted in conventional manner. No recessed body panels, vents, louvers, wrapped-in fenders, offset quarter panels, etc. No built-in vertical lips on any body panel.
4. ENGINE
A. Cast iron blocks only.
B. One 4-barrel carburetor with two return springs on throttle linkage.
C. No nitrous oxide systems allowed.
D. Gasoline only; no combustion aids.
E. Engine compression and cubic inch is not limited.
F. No turbos.
G. No V-6's.
H. Engine interchange permitted.
I. No electric fuel pumps.
J. 4" maximum engine setback, measured from front of engine block. Measurement is taken from #1 spark plug in relation to ball joint center line.
K. All wires must be exposed and in plain view, and easily traced by track officials (no wire looms).
L. Fuel cells mandatory.
1. 8" minimum ground clearance at any point.
2. Must have metal container, four straps are recommended over the top of fuel cell.
3. Must have fuel cell guard.
4. Fuel cell must be securely mounted in back of rear axle housing, BETWEEN FRAME RAILS, BETWEEN REAR TIRES and adequately protected from behind and below by 1 1/4" o.d. by .090 wall tubing or better.
5. GENERAL
A. All drivers must be seated in the car during tech. All measurements will be done with driver in car.
B. Wheels: steel, made for racing only (10" maximum wheel width).
C. Transmission and rear end plugs should be wired.
D. No hydraulic or pneumatic actuated devices with the exception
of brakes, steering and shocks.
E. TIRE RULE: No more or less than four competition tires must be purchased at the track each race date for drivers who raced in the previous week's feature. Any Late Model driver who attempts to qualify but does not start the feature may choose to impound his tires and use them the next time he races.
F. Tires will be released one half hour before first scheduled practice.
G. Late Models will qualify on sticker tires.
6. SAFETY
A. Mandatory on-board fire suppression system with minimum 5 pound extinguisher.
